Verras Program
AISA is excited to announce the inaugural cycle of the Verras Program, our new technical upskilling research program. Join a community of up to 10 scholars, researchers, and advocates committed to shaping the safe and aligned future of advanced AI.
The Verras Program aims to support and ensure talented scholars are equipped to successfully pursue impactful careers in alignment, preparing you for programs such as SPAR, MATS, MARS, CHAI, CBAI, and participation in existing research laboratories. Students with a strong commitment to AI safety, strong software engineering experience, or strong research experience will thrive in this program.
Being part of the Verras Program, and the broader AISA community will entail:
Two research tracks:
Fellows pursuing the independent research track will receive structured guidance, project scaffolding, and support from AISA’s technical leads to help them design, scope, and execute impactful alignment research.
Fellows pursuing the mentorship track will be matched with a mentor whose expertise aligns with their research interests and will have the opportunity for one-on-one guidance from researchers working in areas relevant to AI safety.
Compute support for in-house research projects, depending on each projects requirements.
Weekly meetings featuring informal discussions, lightning talks, and collaborative work sessions on current AI safety topics. Meals and refreshments are provided.
Special networking opportunities with the broader AI safety community and leading researchers and policymakers.
Inter-university socials with AI safety groups in Boston and Cambridge.
Applications for the Spring 2026 cycle are open now, and will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
The deadline to apply is by January 30th, 11:59pm EST.
